Data Breach Notification

On 11 Apri 2019, Tasmanian Independent Retailers Co-Operative Society Limited (TIR) suffered a data breach involving a ransomware attack. As soon as the breach was discovered, TIR immediately took all systems offline, quarantined the affected systems and rebuilt our systems from safe backups.

TIR have submitted a mandatory notification to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Privacy Act 1998 (Cth), are in the process of conducting a complete and independent cyber assessment and review and will provide further information on this website once the review is completed.

There is no evidence to prove or disprove if data has been removed, however it is possible that some subscriber mailing lists may have been accessed. Data that could have been accessed would include email address, first and last names, phone number and street address. TIR recommends that you take appropriate precautions to phishing email and unsolicited phone calls.
